Artist of the Week!

INsiders Guide ‘Artist Of The Week’: Lush Cinematic Pop Artist Jordan Anthony

At just 20 years old, Jordan Anthony has already experienced a lifetime of musical growth. Born in Perth and now based in Los Angeles, this artist creates emotionally powerful pop anthems that blend storytelling with soul, turning his personal struggles and victories into songs that make listeners feel seen and understood.

His journey with music started at an early age. At seven, Jordan wrote his first song—not a hit, he jokes, but a way to express himself. Bullied at school and finding it hard to open up, songwriting became his refuge. “It let me say things I couldn’t voice out loud,” he recalls. “From then on, I knew this was my purpose—to help people feel seen, heard, and less alone.”

By five, his parents enrolled him in piano lessons, a decision he initially resisted but now credits as the foundation of his independence as a musician. With piano skills under his belt, he gained the freedom to arrange and compose, quickly developing a style marked by emotional honesty that would define his artistry.

At 14, Jordan stepped into the national spotlight as a Top 4 finalist on The Voice Australia (2019). That same year, he represented Australia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with his original song “We Will Rise,” finishing eighth internationally. He also headlined Perth’s One Big Voice festival at RAC Arena and delivered a TEDx Talk on storytelling through music.

However, it was his move into the global scene that truly set him apart. In 2024, Jordan competed on American Idol, reaching the Top 14 and sharing his music with a worldwide audience. This experience prompted his relocation to Los Angeles, marking a new chapter in his career.

His breakout collaboration “Cherry” with fellow Idol alum Ajii marked his first major introduction to international listeners. Combining sleek pop production with heartfelt lyrics, it showcased his evolution into a compelling pop storyteller.

In the following months, Jordan solidified his artistic identity with singles like “Reckless” and “Tell Me,” exploring themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. “Reckless” highlighted his pop sensibility, making heartbreak feel euphoric, while “Tell Me” revealed vulnerability through introspective lyrics and soaring vocals. These tracks set the stage for his most emotionally mature work yet.

In November 2025, he released “Hurt Me Sooner,” a song capturing the pain of reflecting on a relationship and wishing to relive those moments—even knowing they helped shape him. Written with Brett Koolik and produced by Taylor Sparks, it blends sweeping pop sounds with raw emotion and marked another step forward in his storytelling journey.

Now, Jordan introduces his new single “Lost in LA,” which he describes as “really important” and deeply personal. “I almost didn’t release it,” he admits, “but I realized it needs to come out. It tells a lot of my story—not just my first year away from home in LA, but my whole journey as an artist. Being an artist is so unpredictable, and this song captures those feelings of losing your way. I want listeners to know that’s normal and okay. I hope someone out there needs this just as much as I do.”

While “Lost in LA” is a standalone release, Jordan hints that more is coming: “There’s an EP on the way this year, and I’m really excited about it. It’s a collection of the best songs and stories I’ve written over the past year and a half, from moving to LA to discovering who I am as an artist. It’s taken time to develop sonically, but I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

The song was born during a moment of solitude. “I wasn’t planning to write that day,” Jordan recalls, “but I was feeling homesick and doubting myself. I picked up my guitar, and the song just came out in about thirty minutes.” After deciding to share it, he collaborated with Nashville producers Parker Matthews and Todd Tran, who helped shape it into its final cinematic pop form.

“Lost in LA” is meant to be felt as much as heard. Jordan envisions it as a “headphones-in-the-uber-looking-out-the-window” kind of song, but believes it can resonate anywhere. At its core, it’s a message to never give up: “Accept the lows and see them as part of the process. Use those days to celebrate the small wins. I struggle with this every day, but writing songs like this helps me cope.”

Jordan’s artistry is a balance of vulnerability and confidence, heartbreak and hope. His influences include Ed Sheeran, Adele, Sam Smith, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, Charlie Puth, Tate McRae, and Teddy Swims—artists whose emotional precision and authenticity have shaped his sound and approach.

Outside the studio, Jordan stays grounded through family time, beach days, sushi outings, PlayStation sessions, and his lifelong passion—soccer.

His early milestones include reaching the Top 4 on The Voice Australia (2019), the Top 14 on American Idol (2024), speaking at TEDx Perth (2023), headlining Perth’s One Big Voice festival (2019, 2022, 2023), representing Australia at Junior Eurovision (2019), and building a growing global fanbase with singles like “Cherry,” “Reckless,” “Tell Me,” and “Hurt Me Sooner.” His debut single “Broken Love” garnered over 600,000 streams and featured on Spotify’s “Peaceful Pop” and “New Pop” playlists.

For Jordan, connection is everything. “I want my music to inspire and make people feel seen,” he says. “If someone replays a line because it really hits them, I’ve achieved what I set out to do.”

With “Lost in LA” kicking off 2026 and a highly anticipated EP on the horizon, Jordan Anthony continues to establish himself as a bold voice among a new generation of pop artists—vulnerable, authentic, and dedicated to sharing his story through universal anthems.
