INsiders Guide: Darling I Dreamt, UNTER STRØM, NEZZA, MAJORS, SKYLIGHTS…

featuring @darlingidreamt @senturymusic @weareunterstrom @babynezza @majorsgolfband @leexlewis

Rising digital pop artist Darling I Dreamt, the project of genre-blurring creator Jonah Michael, returns with his new single, ‘Nothing Like It’. Dark, distorted and immediate, the track pulls together electronic textures, R&B influences and alternative influences into something that feels off-centre and one of a kind. Playful, experimental production sits against a driving, almost hypnotic beat, giving the song a sense of momentum that never quite settles.

‘Nothing Like It’ is available now on your streaming service of choice via APOLLO Distribution.

“I wrote ‘Nothing Like It’ on the same day I wrote my last single, ‘What You Want’’, Jonah explains. Noah (my Producer) and I were just trying to create music that sounded like the pop we were raised on. To me, ‘Nothing Like It’ is a hazy distortion of the recession pop created by Timberland, Taio Cruz and Kesha. Musically it definitely pulls from those, especially Timberland with hip hop and R&B elements in the instrumental, but I think my grounding in more industrial beats gives it a slightly surreal feeling – like it’s almost got that 2009 pop feel, but with heavier production.”

That tension between nostalgia and unease sits at the core of Nothing Like It. For Jonah, the reference point is as much sonic as it is cultural. 2009-2012 pop music all felt like “let’s go out and party because the world sucks and we may never own a house” and growing up on it meant that going clubbing, for me, took on a kind of mythical feeling like it would solve all my problems if I could go out every weekend! I don’t really think clubbing has fully recovered since 2020 and now it’s so expensive that, despite it being the perfect time for recession pop to come back, we’re all too broke to go clubbing!”

The track leans into that contradiction. Built around a sense of release, it captures the pull of escapism without fully buying into it. It sounds thick, hazy and a bit nostalgic, built around inhaling, exhaling and finally letting go of everything.

‘Nothing Like It’ follows ‘What You Want’ as the second glimpse into Darling I Dreamt’s upcoming project. Together, the two singles hint at a body of work that revisits the sounds that shaped him, while reshaping them into something more introspective and current.

UNTER STRØM is an electronic musical duo forged in the shadows of Los Angeles and San Diego, blending raw industrial grit with melodic finesse. Led by Alex Gonzales (Matte Blvck) and John Kunkel (The New Division, John Grand), the project is a collision of two prolific creative forces & longtime collaborators whose roots run deep in the darker corners of electronic and alternative music. Gonzales has been on a sharp upward trajectory with Matte Blvck, building a global fanbase through relentless touring and a string of sold-out shows across the United States, while Kunkel’s work as John Grand has earned support from tastemakers like Armin van Buuren on A State of Trance and a guest mix on Group Therapy Radio. Together, they meet at the intersection of underground intensity and melodic dark electronic refinement.

Emerging from years of working together in various bands and studios, UNTER STRØM was born from a shared obsession: pushing the boundaries of techno, melodic house, and industrial sonics into uncharted territory.  The result is a cinematic, visceral sound that moves between brooding intensity and euphoric release, equal parts warehouse and widescreen.

Their first official release, “Orynth” via renegade label Breathing Records, serves as a defining introduction to UNTER STRØM’s sound. Built through a fluid and highly collaborative process, the track began with Gonzales sketching its opening movements before Kunkel expanded it into a fully realized piece, layering time-stretched atmospheres and intricate melodic detail. The result is a track that moves between tension and release, pairing driving rhythmic energy with cinematic depth.

Written during an intense creative period that saw the duo generate a large body of work in a short span, “Orynth” captures the immediacy and chemistry behind the project. The single was mixed by Aaron Short (Madison Beer, The Naked and Famous, So Below), adding a polished, expansive finish to its already immersive sound.

“Orynth” sets the tone for what’s to come from UNTER STRØM, a project rooted in real-world momentum and artistic evolution, bridging established success with a forward-leaning vision.

With decades of combined experience, Gonzales and Kunkel bring a polished yet uncompromising approach to dance music: one that reflects their artistic histories while carving something entirely new.

Colombian-Dominican singer-songwriter NEZZA returns with her highly-anticipated single “SWEAT,” out now, alongside the reveal of her forthcoming album of the same name, set for release this summer. Marking a bold new chapter, the genre-fluid artist steps into her most confident and sonically charged era yet, following a breakout year that catapulted her into global conversation.

“SWEAT” is a Spanglish pop summer anthem with a playful, confident edge, blending infectious bilingual hooks with a sleek, modern pop sound. It captures the feeling of stepping into your power—moving in silence and letting everyone else “SWEAT” while you level up.

Serving as an electrifying introduction to the world of SWEAT, the track leans into themes of desire, release, and self-possession, driven by pulsating production and undeniable energy that feels both effortless and commanding. It ushers in an era defined by movement, feeling, and fearless self-exploration, further solidifying NEZZA as a leading voice of the Spanglish vanguard—raw, multifaceted, and deeply rooted in community.

“SWEAT” the single is available now on all streaming platforms.

Pop-punk outfit MAJORS officially arrive on the green with the release of their self-titled debut full-length, out now on all streaming platforms. With members based in Ottawa, ON, and Charleston, SC, the band blends the energy of early-2000s punk with tongue-in-cheek golf-themed storytelling, carving out a lane entirely their own while proving that punk rock can be loud, catchy, and completely unafraid to embrace the absurd.

Built around soaring hooks, driving guitars, and a deep love of the game, MAJORS pushes the band’s concept further than ever before. Across the album’s 13 tracks, the group explores everything from glorious rounds and disastrous swings to frustration, obsession, ego, and redemption, all through the lens of modern rock and pop-punk. Leading the release is focus track “She’s Gone,” a drum-heavy, straight-ahead pop-punk banger that captures the band at their most immediate and energetic.

“We really pushed our songwriting this year, exploring every corner of the genre to create a well-rounded modern rock record that spans the entire ‘MAJORS’ lyrical landscape — from the frustration of a ‘Hell Day’ on the course to seeking divine intervention for your swing,” says vocalist Justin Camarena. “Since our songs are so literal, we’re treating social media as an extension of the art, using visuals to bring the specific stories in our heads directly to our fans. Golfers will absolutely get it, and even for folks who don’t golf, the music alone should be enough to get heads bouncing… maybe even inspire a trip to the driving range.”

One of Yorkshire’s best-kept-secrets – SKYLIGHTS – are back with the colossal new single “Fever”.

Fever” is the sound of a festival-ready banger arriving with impact. With the tenacity of Oasis, The Verve, and Shed Seven, the four-piece return with a song loaded like a freight train of hulking riffs, anthemic chorus hooks, and soaring guitar solos.

A band who have more than proven their aptitude for nailing those big outdoor shows alongside fellow Yorkshire legends Shed Seven, Sherlocks and Pigeon Detectives; their latest single finds them ramping up the hype for a golden Summer to come and some of their biggest headline shows yet.

“Sit back, kick back feeling fine, sipping on a beer in the summer time” urges vocalist Rob Scazz, clearly relishing the moment like that first cold pint in a festival field.

From its Billy Duffy (Cult) or John Squire (Stone Roses) tinted guitar lines to its Motorik drum chug, “Fever” is a feel-good, fuzzed-up, tub-thumping anthem designed for prime crowd reaction and destined to get it.

About the track Rob of Skylights states:

“It’s an upbeat summer song for driving around on a sunny day or having a beer.”

Recorded at Young Thugs Studio in Southbank, the track will be released digitally and limited physical vinyl release on 29th May through the Vinyl Eddie record shop in York.

THE TRUE UNION’s debut full-length, out April 24, 2026 on Alfa Matrix, includes a previously unheard contribution from the late Abruptum and Ophthalamia musician alongside Mayhem drummer Hellhammer

“Sleepwalk”, the debut full-length album from American industrial project THE TRUE UNION, includes a posthumous appearance by Tony “IT” Särkkä, the Swedish multi-instrumentalist who died in 2017. Särkkä’s contribution appears on the track “Internal War,” alongside Hellhammer (Jan Axel Blomberg), drummer of Norwegian black metal band Mayhem. The album is out now on  the Belgian label Alfa Matrix.

Särkkä was a defining figure in 1990s Swedish extreme metal. He was a member of Abruptum, Ophthalamia, Vondur, and War, and co-founded Necropolis Records, an early imprint central to the international spread of the second-wave black metal scene. Releases of unheard material from his archive have been rare since his death, making his appearance on a new industrial record notable on its own terms.

Särkkä recorded his contribution to “Internal War” in the years before his death in 2017. “It was around 2015 or 2016, about a year or two before he passed away,” Far recalls. “I have such good memories from that period. He was one of the earliest people to believe in what I did, and I deeply appreciated that. I was extremely sad when he passed away.” An in memoriam video posted by The True Union several years ago shows the material as raw vocal tracks recorded by Särkkä for “Internal War”.

The track became one of the most aggressive on the record and sets an early tone of militant intensity.

“Sleepwalk” is the debut full-length release from THE TRUE UNION, the project led by American vocalist and songwriter Azul Far. It follows the 2022 EP “Love Me Now (Not)”. Far has operated the project since 2009, previously under the name The Union, and rebranded on signing to Alfa Matrix in 2022. The album was produced by Far with Travis Bacon and Sebastian Komor, both of whom worked on the EP.

Scot “Little” Bihlman has unleashed his latest single “Pain” through V13 Music as part of the continued rollout of his upcoming album Heavy Head. Inspired by the atmospheric heft of Nine Inch Nails and the contemplative pull of Pink Floyd, “Pain” presents a common conflict through a contemporary lens: what if pressure continues to build, with nowhere to store it?

“Pain” begins with a sparse simplicity. Just guitars and vocals, and not a lot of room to hide. It’s a little like the sparse confessional of classic rock, but it never really enters this space. There is no sense of urgency to resolve anything. The tension is allowed to build, lending a sense of intensity to the beginning of the song.

Rising Los Angeles R&B and soul talent Lee Lewis releases his striking new offering
“The Long Way” – the final single from his forthcoming EP release. Emerging as a
raw, honest reckoning, Lee lays bare the machinations of complex love and the web
of emotions that tie it all together.
“The Long Way” bears all the hallmarks that have continued to establish Lee Lewis
as one of the most exciting voices in the modern R&B landscape. The rich, deep
timbre of his vocals infuses the track with an almost operatic quality, matching its
frank, self-reflective storytelling as the rising star looks inward to uncover his own
affinities in a relationship defined by chaos and volatility.

It’s an intensity that is paralleled sonically, with Spanish guitar licks melting into
dream-like strings and Lee’s warm, power-charged vocals to create a sprawling
cinematic soundscape to expand upon.
Speaking on the track, he explains: “‘The Long’ Way is the point in the EP where I
turn the mirror inward. Rather than just placing blame on my former lover, I’m
acknowledging my own brand of intensity into the dynamic. Throughout the song, I
caution him: ‘I fall the long way.’ It’s both a confession and a warning. I love deeply,
recklessly, and without restraint, an intensity that can be as intoxicating as it is
destructive. The song unfolds like a tug-of-war between two forms of toxicity,
questioning who truly does more damage: him or me, his demons or my devotion.”
He adds: “Lyrically, I frame him as a wolf in sheep’s clothing, even a devil in
disguise, but I also admit that I can mirror his darkness and keep pace with it. ‘I’ll be
the perfect storm,’ I sing, fully aware of the chaos that kind of love can create when
two people refuse to love safely.”

Milwaukee’s 414JungleBaby is carving out her own lane where melodic instinct meets unfiltered street perspective. The 300 Entertainment signee is announcing her forthcoming debut EP Jungle This, Jungle That on Friday, May 15th. Along with the exciting news, the rapper is also sharing her new single and video “Af1” featuring Detroit drill rapper FWC Big Key on the same day. With this as her last release before the arrival of the EP

Fugue State, the new collaborative project led by Northampton, MA–based composer, producer, and engineer Dan Langa, shares new single “Floating,” a final preview ahead of the project’s debut album After Nothing Comes, releasing this Friday via Switch Hit Records.

“Floating” is among the most organic-sounding pieces on the record. An opening piano figure slowly expands outward, a sonic warping unfolding in real time as layers of instruments and voices enter and recede. The track blooms gradually before arriving at its luminous conclusion.

Neither solo project nor traditional ensemble, Fugue State is rooted in a singular compositional methodology: the obsessive cultivation and transformation of studio recordings into spectral, unrecognizable forms. Langa draws on a network of New York–based players including renowned multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily; acclaimed singer-songwriter Maia Friedman; Grammy Award–winning producer William Brittelle; and respected talents Morgan Guerin, Peni Candra Rini, Erika Dohi, Timo Vollbrecht, and Elias Stemeseder, splicing and reshaping their performances into something altogether strange and new.

The album’s origins trace back to an unlikely discovery: while reviewing session material, Langa encountered an unplaceable five-syllable sound—distinct yet unintelligible, impossible to locate or reproduce. He responded with an obsessive process of digital deconstruction, pushing the recordings into increasingly fragmented and unfamiliar territory. That process became both the project’s name and its guiding logic.

After Nothing Comes is a spectral song cycle moving between ambient saxophone, chamber dub, and fractured art song, treating the studio itself as raw material to be dismantled and rebuilt.

To celebrate the release, Fugue State will perform an intimate album release show at Ki Smith Gallery in New York City on May 30. BlankFor.ms will open. Tickets and more information are available here.

Listen to “Floating” above, and look for the full release of After Nothing Comes this Friday, May 22, via Switch Hit Records.

critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and instrumentalist, Patrick Grossi, widely known as ACTIVE CHILD, releases his new self-titled album on Sony Music Masterworks. Co-produced with Alex Goose (Kali Uchis, Childish Gambino, Vince Staples), ACTIVE CHILD’S fourth album is his most personal and introspective work yet. Spanning 12 tracks, the LP unfolds as a vivid chronicle of Grossi’s creative evolution over the past five years. Woven together by a recurring motif of identity, the artist and the father become refractions of one another. See the full track listing below and LISTEN HERE.

Coinciding with today’s album release is the official music video for the focus track “Fault of God,” directed by Grossi’s creative collaborator, Keegan James Hurley – WATCH HERE. The video integrates a whirlwind of archival footage inspired by the cultural upheaval of the 1960s in an attempt to unravel the human experience. These fleeting moments serve as a mirror as Active Child reflects on the beauty and horror of it all.

Of “Fault of God,” ACTIVE CHILD explains:

“My creative heart has always been about chasing and touching the unknown, a search for spirit via sound. ‘Fault of God’ is a great representation of that romantic aspiration and is why I chose it to accompany the album release.”

Chicago-based alternative all-stars The Joy Thieves unveil the video for their new single ‘No Anchor’ feat. Chris Connelly (Fini Tribe, Revolting Cocks, Ministry, Pigface), created by Lumbra Productions. The second taste of their full-length album ‘Apocalypse Pending’, out June 5th via Armalyte Industries, fumes about a chilling world where corporate giants and billionaires operate with total impunity and where the absence of a moral “anchor” leads to societal and personal dissolution.

These music mavericks eye the edge of collapse, capturing the zeitgeist with such precision. Touching on the decay of the individual, ‘No Anchor’ explores the isolation in our modern world has pushed people towards amorality and an increased sense of hopeless nihilism. on vocals, this song articulates a world slipping free of moral gravity.

Revolving around musicians-producers Dan Milligan and James Scott (a.k.a. Joy Thieves Productions), The Joy Thieves is a musical supergroup that includes current, former, and touring members of Ministry, Stabbing Westward, The Rollins Band, Killing Joke, Pigface, RevCo, PIG, David Bowie, Blue October, Machines of Loving Grace, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, Naked Raygun, Foetus, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, Pegboy, Nitzer Ebb, Die Krupps and more.

British rapper and vocalist Sabodi unveils his hotly anticipated debut project ‘2020’ –
a stylish selection of eight tracks released alongside a typically intimate and charming
visualiser for the focus track “Flower$ In The Rain.”
Exploring love, identity, ambition, escapism, and the disorienting experiences that
young people face every day, the Bristol-born talent fully embodies vulnerability and
the pulse of inner-city life across his first-ever body of work. Opening with the infectious
focus track, “Flower$ In The Rain” possess a warmth that draws out Sabodi’s unique
style and tenderness as he pursues a forlorn love in the big city. The subtle switches
between melody and straight rapping showcase his capabilities as a vocalist while the
visualiser adds levity to the subject matter, encapsulating the fun, rejection-filled
journey that the search for true love can encompass.

His debut single, “Ever Know,” quickly follows suit, as retro guitar licks and a
sharpened drum break open pockets for the young talent to reflect on the early stages
of romance and the all-encompassing affinities that take hold. Next up, “Cinderella”
enchants a familiar folk tale as Sabodi modestly reflects on love and all its simplicities
before “Miles High” resumes the disorientation and establishes a mantra that speaks
to every young hedonist chasing the euphoria.
Fuelled by lust, zeal, and the occasional substance, an intoxicating moment of
temptation sees Sabodi go through another metamorphosis: from “Love Junkie” to
“Rehab Luv,” the broken lover becomes the hopeless romantic across the closing track
“Butterfly Girl Yellow,” the fog clearing as he proclaims his love for the one. Soft guitar
riffs and gentle drums beat in the background, as Sabodi occupies the foreground with
his warm melodies and conversational cadence. A poem wedged between the two
verses signals a change in pace, as grand pianos begin to take centre stage alongside
Sabodi’s dreamy affinities for a love like no other.

Fresh off their back-to-back #1 Billboard hits “Only Human” and “Forever,” these Houston-based R&B hitmakers are turning the temperature all the way up with “Don’t Mind,” a late-night slow jam dripping in tension, anticipation, and grown-man restraint. Serving as the next chapter to the love story introduced in “Forever,” the record picks up after the vows. Built around the seductive refrain, “If I kiss you like this, hold you like this tonight,” the record captures that electric moment when two people already know where the night could go, but nobody’s rushing it.

As the first R&B group in 25 years to land a Billboard #1, the 10x Billboard-charting quartet has amassed millions of streams and views while earning placements on major editorial playlists across Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Pandora. The group also performed at Essence Fest and has received acclaim from Billboard, Rated R&B, Great Day Houston, and many more.
