Apple TV has unveiled exciting updates for its highly anticipated series starring Zazie Beetz. The show, which has undergone a title change, will now be called Nocturne. It is set to premiere later this year, debuting with a 10-episode first season on October 30, 2026.
Originally known as Lazarus, the series features a notable cast including Liev Schreiber, famous for his role as Victor Creed in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Stephen Graham, recognized for This Is England, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Venom: The Last Dance. Other cast members include Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Poorna Jagannathan, Chrissy Metz, and Gary Carr.
Based on the novels Lazarus and The Sandman by Lars Kepler—pseudonym of the writing duo Alexander Ahndoril and Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril—the series is a thrilling crime drama. The story follows detective Jonah Lynn (Schreiber) as he races to find a missing person after a victim of notorious serial killer Jurek Walter (Graham) unexpectedly reappears alive. Meanwhile, Beetz’s character, Saga Bauer, goes undercover to gather answers from the killer himself.
The series is a joint production by A+E Studios and Range Studios. Tim Van Patten, who will also direct the first two episodes, serves as executive producer. Schreiber and Beetz, through their Sleepy Poppy production company, are also executive producers. Additional executive producers include Barry Jossen, Tana Jamieson, Peter Micelli, Heather Kadin, Jack Whigham, and the authors Lars Kepler. Showrunners and writers Rowan Joffe and John Hlavin will oversee the series as executive producers and co-writers.
