Fans have received their first glimpse of Scooby-Doo in Netflix’s highly anticipated new TV series. While the cast was announced months ago, the iconic dog himself had yet to be revealed—until now. A recent teaser trailer offers a ground-level perspective of Scooby, showing the Great Dane puppy just before being picked up by Shaggy. Notably, the footage confirms that Scooby will be portrayed by a real dog, marking a first for the franchise. The adorable pup, wearing his signature blue collar, can be seen clearly in a post by DiscussingFilm, highlighting the authentic portrayal.

The series, titled Scooby-Doo: Origins, is set to premiere on Netflix in 2027. It promises to be a modern reimagining of the beloved franchise. According to the official synopsis, the story follows Shaggy (Hagen) and Daphne (Mckenna Grace) during their final summer at camp, where they become embroiled in a mysterious case involving a lonely Great Dane puppy—who might have witnessed a supernatural murder. Joining the adventure are Velma (Abby Ryder Fortson), a pragmatic scientist, and the enigmatic, charming new kid Freddy (Maxwell Jenkins). Together, they set out to uncover the truth behind a haunting nightmare that threatens to reveal their deepest secrets.

The cast also features Paul Walter Hauser in an undisclosed role. The series is helmed by showrunners, writers, and executive producers Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg. Executive producers include Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Adrienne Erickson, and Toby Haynes.

Scooby-Doo: Origins will debut with eight episodes on Netflix in 2027, promising a fresh take on the classic mystery-solving gang.
