Kit Connor has landed his next major film role following his casting as Cyclops in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot. The Heartstopper star is set to appear alongside Diana Silvers in PRƎPPY, a new true-crime drama from filmmaker Janicza Bravo.
According to Deadline, PRƎPPY will explore the infamous 1986 murder of 18-year-old Jennifer Levin and the case surrounding her killer, Robert Emmet Chambers Jr., who became known as the “Preppy Killer” and “Central Park Strangler.”
The film’s original screenplay comes from David Levine and Rose Lichter-Marck. Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan, and John Buderwitz will produce for Aggregate Films, alongside Peter Coleman and Paula Manzanedo for STX. Bravo will also serve as a producer in addition to directing the film.
The story centers on Levin’s murder in New York City in 1986. Chambers was initially accused of killing Levin and denied responsibility before ultimately pleading guilty to the charges in 1988. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison and was released in 2003.
Chambers was arrested again in 2008 on charges related to the sale of controlled substances. He remained incarcerated for years before being released in 2023.
Connor has quickly built an impressive filmography beyond his breakout role as Nick Nelson in Netflix’s Heartstopper. He previously appeared in Warfare and voiced a role in The Wild Robot. His upcoming projects include Alex Garland’s feature adaptation of the video game Elden Ring, which is currently scheduled for 2028.
Connor is also set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Scott Summers/Cyclops in the upcoming X-Men reboot, also expected in 2028.
Meanwhile, Bravo has established herself as a versatile filmmaker across both film and television. Her previous directorial credits include Zola, Is God Is, and Lemon. She has also directed episodes of acclaimed series including The Bear, Poker Face, Too Much, and The Listeners.
